More than 60% of the Indian population resides in rural areas with agriculture as the main profession. Our farmers are yeoman, though they are the backbone of our country’s economy. They do possess possess knowledge about agricultural practices,but often lack immediate, contextual and real time access to vital information such as the current state of the agro-market, making the right choice of pesticides and fungicides for pest management, weather conditions, and knowledge about newly introduced agricultural tools, techniques and practices. Human rights, the universal legal gurantees protecting individuals, with the rise of the graph of farmers committing sucide, persuade the Indian Government shouldsupport, protect, respect & reward for the enormous production & contribution to the society. Social & community development programmes were organised and infrastructure were provided invillages. In this paper, I report the current scenario of an ongoing contextual study regarding the low yield and despair in our Indian villages. This study is targeted to uncover a deeper understanding of the information needs, of Indian rural farmers through field observations. Poverty stricken farmers suggest a need to reduce their vulnerability by stabilizing crop yields and limiting yield losses.It is concluded that these farm,ers value aid which help increase expected yield.
